Letter from an Intended Mother in California:
Dear Prospective Parents,
... We contacted Susan last year after having
interviewed several agencies in California. Susan immediately sent us
several profiles of surrogate mothers. Her profiles are well done and give
you a feel for the person.
We flew in L.A. to meet our surrogate mother.
Susan really helped all of us to feel at ease and made sure we covered
important points like multiple pregnancies, who will be present during the
birth, termination of pregnancy in case of a health problem...
We really liked our surrogate mother and
decided to draw up a contract. Again, Susan's expertise helped us
tremendously. She gave us the names of several attorneys and after talking
with the one she recommended we hired her. We love our attorney. She is a
great person and we would not have found her without Susan's help.
Susan also found an attorney for our
Surrogate. The signing of the contract went without a hitch. Susan mediated
a few points between us and our surrogate, but it was a breeze. She also
took care of the health insurance and psychologist for our surrogate, gave
us the name of a great doctor, made all the appointments for us and our
surrogate, opened the escrow account, and paid the bills.
She was very patient in answering all the
questions we had. I remember calling late at night (11 PM) expecting to
leave a message on her voice mail and she answered the phone and took the
time to listen to my concern. I really like Susan's down to earth attitude.
Thanks to her we are now ready to proceed to the next step. We hope to do
our transfer in March.
Surrogacy is a very stressful process. There
are so many setbacks along the way, but working with Susan made the process
less stressful. We are very grateful to have found Susan. We would not sign
with any other agency. We like our small agency. We found everything we
needed and more.
Sincerely, S******

Letter from Intended Parents in England:
We traveled to California in June 1999 to
explore the possibility of surrogacy and talk to a few agencies. We
contacted a half-dozen. In the end, we decided to go with SPC because a) its
[director], Susan Jones, obviously knew what she was talking about, having
been a surrogate herself, and had contacts with clinics and lawyers, b) we
had talked to an intended parent who had recommended her warmly, and c) she
was much cheaper than the competition - money is an important factor, let's
face it.
We do not regret our decision. The person who
handles our case is competent, reassuring and helpful and replies to emails
promptly -- this is reassuring when you live a continent away.
We chose to go for traditional surrogacy, and
it's harder to find women willing to do this, as opposed to gestational
surrogacy. Eventually, we were put in touch with a suitable surrogate, and
although she lives in a not-so-surrogate-friendly state, SPC has done an
excellent job of liaising with doctors, clinics and lawyers.
In short, SPC has handled their side of
things very professionally; we recommend them without reservation. It's now
time for nature to do its bit (we're hoping for a successful insemination
soon).
