Estimated Expenses Associated with Surrogacy

This page will give you an idea as to the approximate costs of using our program's services.

These fees are approximate and do not reflect medical costs and expenses. Please check with your clinic to verify their charges for the medical procedures involved with surrogacy. If you are not already working with a clinic, SPC can refer you to a clinic that will fit your needs.

Since there is no way to be certain what will be needed to maintain the Surrogate's pregnancy and every situation is different, all costs may not be listed.

The agency fees will be listed last, since there is more that one option to choose from.

◦ SURROGATE'S FEE: $15,000-$17,000 - estimate
For both Gestational and Traditional Surrogates. 

Occasionally a Surrogate will request a larger fee because she has been a Surrogate. Other Surrogates may ask for a lower fee in order to help keep costs down for the Recipient Couple. We make every effort to inform a couple what each Surrogate is requesting if it differs from the projected costs.

If a multiple pregnancy occurs, the Surrogate will generally receive compensation in addition to the basic fee for each additional baby, commencing at the fifth month of pregnancy.

◦ IVF-TRANSFER FEE: $500 per transfer
For Gestational Surrogacy only.

◦ ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION FEE: $250 per cycle
For Traditional Surrogacy only.

◦ SUPPORT GROUP ALLOWANCE: $1,200 - approximately
The total amount depends on the length of time it takes for the Surrogate to become pregnant.

This fee covers child care and travel expenses for the Surrogate to attend the support group meetings, as well as encourages her participation for her emotional wellbeing

◦ MATERNITY EXPENSE ALLOWANCE: $1,800 - approximately
The total amount depends on the length of time it takes for the Surrogate to become pregnant.

The Surrogate receives $150 per month from the time she signs the Surrogate Contract until 3 months after the birth of the baby.

This allowance covers the miscellaneous expenses associated with the surrogate pregnancy such as phone calls, local travel, child care, and vitamins.

◦ MATERNITY CLOTHING ALLOWANCE: $500
Payable upon reaching 12 weeks gestation.

◦ PSYCHOTHERAPIST FEE: $1,500 - estimate
To screen and counsel Surrogate.

◦ INTENDED PARENTS' ATTORNEY AND COURT FEES: $3,000
This is an estimate that may vary depending on the attorney you choose and the state where the birth will take place.

◦ SURROGATE'S ATTORNEY FEES: $750 - estimate

◦ ESCROW FEE: $700
This may vary depending on how many checks the escrow company writes on your behalf. The escrow deposit will be placed in an interest-bearing account; the interest earned usually offsets the fee charged by the escrow company.

◦ SURROGATE'S PHYSICAL/LAB FEES: $1,000

◦ SURROGATE'S HUSBAND'S LAB FEES: $300
These will vary depending on the clinic.

◦ LIFE INSURANCE ON SURROGATE: $250
This is an estimate on a $200,000 term life policy.

◦ OB/GYN AND HOSPITAL/DELIVERY COSTS: $1,500
This estimate assumes 80% coverage from the Surrogate's health insurance carrier.

◦ GESTATIONAL SURROGACY WITH EGG DONATION
When an Egg Donor is needed along with a Gestational Surrogate, you can add these additional expenses to the fees listed above:

◦ EGG DONOR FEE: $3,000 - $3,500
The fee varies depending upon the Egg Donor's background and history of previous donations.

◦ AGENCY FEE - GESTATIONAL OR TRADITIONAL SURROGATE
There are three payment options to choose from; your choice determines our fee.

◦ Option #1 Discount Program Fee: $6,000
You may choose to pay SPC one payment of $6,000. To take advantage of this payment option you must sign the Agreement for Services and return it to SPC with your payment of $6,000 within 15 days of the information being sent to you.

◦ Option #2 Original Program Fee: $7,500
This is the payment program which SPC initially started with. Under this program, you sign the Agreement for Services when you are ready to meet or talk with a Surrogate, and the fee is payable in three installments, as follows:

- The first installment of $2,500 is due upon the signing of the Agreement for Services and must be received before the agency sets up any meetings or conference calls between you and the Surrogate.

- The second installment of $2,500 is due when you and your Surrogate sign the Surrogate Contract.

- The final installment of $2,500 is due when the Surrogate has her first IVF/ET or AI procedure.

◦ Option #3 New Program Offer Fee: $8,500
This is the newest addition to our payment program. We realize that some Recipient Couples who would rather wait until their Surrogate is confirmed pregnant to pay the final agency installment. This program is designed with these couples in mind.

You sign the Agreement for Services when you are ready to meet or talk with a Surrogate and pay the fee in three installments, as follows:

- The first installment of $2,850 is due upon signing the Agreement for Services.

- The second installment of $2,850 is due when you and your Surrogate sign the Surrogate Contract.

- The final installment of $2,800 is due once your Surrogate is confirmed pregnant by the clinic with a blood or urine test.

◦ AGENCY FEE - EGG DONOR WITH GESTATIONAL SURROGATE: $2,000 This fee applies when our Egg Donation Program is used in conjunction with the use of a gestational surrogate in our Surrogate Mother Program.
